Murder at Martha´s Café
It was a cold, windy, grey morning. There was nobody in the streets because a terrible storm was coming. There were several customers at Martha’s Café. It was almost 9:00 am when Mugsy Morrow arrived. When he entered the Café there was complete silence. He sat near some customers. There were Bob, the policeman, Alan, the investors, and Dick, the businessman.
Mugsy sat in front of Dick and started talking with him in a low voice. Bob asked me for a coffee so I fetched it in the kitchen. I spilled coffee on the floor so I got a mop and started cleaning the floor. When I was cleaning, Alan stood and said he wanted to tell me something in the kitchen, so we went there and talked for a while. He told me he wanted toI invest n the Café to make it more modern. As we were negotiating, we heard a shooting noise so we went outside.
In the Café we saw that Dick and Bob weren’t there and Mugsy was lying dead on the floor. After we saw that, we called the F.B.I. The F.B.I. arrived with a detective called Mr. Carter. He was a tall, blond man that used an English hat and a wooden pipe. He was about thirty years old and was well known because he was a genius in solving mysteries.
When he started investigating he asked me for the names of the customers sitting near Mugsy when I heard the shooting. I answered I was with Alan in the kitchen doing some business while Bob and Dick were with Mugsy. When I said that, he immediately sent to call Bob and Dick. They came a while later with the F.B.I. Mr. Carter interrogated Dick first. He asked him where he was at the time of the crime. Dick answered he was in his car going downtown for an important meeting. Mr. Carter phoned the meeting place and told him that Dick was an important businessman who was telling the truth. After this he asked Bob where he was at that time and he answered he was in the jewelry shop arresting some robbers. Mr. Carter phoned the jewelry and told him there were no robbers. In that instant Bob started running but the detective shot him in the leg and he fell to the ground.
Finally the detective arrested Bob and told me he was going to be in jail for a long time.
A good job! Miss Ale
