A Rainy Night in New York

Eddie Morino paced the night-time streets of New York, lost amongst his own thoughts. He did not know where he was walking, he just needed to get out and let his mind and legs wander. He peered through the driving rain, which was so common in New York City at this time of year. He noticed the lights of a thousand cars and the colours of hundreds of neon shop signs, bright, in his face. He saw how the images shimmered in the ever-growing puddles at his feet. It was these images that helped him in times like this. He had been working on a case now for two weeks and his clues seemed to have dried up. The reflections in the puddles changed, took on new shapes as people and cars caused the water to ripple. To Eddie, this change, this new angle, helped him look at the facts in a new way. It all began like this. 

            One morning he woke up and had his breakfast at home with his dog Cooper. He went to his job as everyday . When he got there they told him the new case , it was about some missing dogs ,that were disappearing in the neighbourhood "Laguna del sol "  . Eddie loved dogs ,and he had lost  one he loved very much  , so he decided he would help this people. 

The following day he went to the mysterious neighbourhood . It was very big and it had a great lagoon. It was full of beautiful houses with lovely gardens. He visited a number of houses they had given him to go and ask some questions. The first house was number 274. The paper  said it was of a woman with 2 children ,a teenager and a 10 year old . So he went there . The woman in that house looked very sad, she was called Mrs. Dombery. Eddie asked her what was the dog like , she said it was a  golden retriever, 2 years old and he was called Benny. Then he asked her how it had suddenly disappeared  . Mrs.Dombery said she didnt know , that she was cooking ,but the 10 year old boy that was called Tom said he was playing with him with a ball and suddenly he threw it very faraway, the dog went to look for it and never came back , and they waited and waited and he never came back. So they got really  worried , Benny never was away for such a long time, he always came back quickly. Eddie wrote every thing they said .

The next house was number 567 where they told him that the dog was sleeping outside and they went to look for him and he wasn`t there . They waited but the dog never came back.Eddie went to five houses more . A very sospicious thing was that all the dogs that were missing were dogs with lots of hair.It was very weird.

When Eddie was going home he heard some barks an wighns  coming from a house. He went  to see what was happening . In the backyard of the house he could see a lot of dogs tied with a rope, but these dogs hadn't a lot of hair, they all look shaved . He found this very suspicious so he nocked at the door. A man aswered , he was an old looking man, with many wrinkles and a long nose a, he hadn´t many hair and it was all standing up, Eddie realised that that man was  not that nice . He asked  him if he knew something about the missing dogs and he said no and closed the door very quickly .Eddie insisted to enter but the old man didn´t let him in. Eddie pushed the door and entered the house, he saw the house looked as a laboratry,there was another man who  looked old too  , he saw all the dogs shaven but he also saw dogs with hair , he  asked them what they were up to and they told him they wanted to make stuffed animals with the dogs' hair Eddie knew that they were the criminals.

So he called  the police that worked with him aand they quikly went  there and arrestede the two men,and the dogs were given back to their owners.And the case was closed.
